How the Aliens Attack

They don't have to destroy them. They simply have to trick you into submitting to them. Conquer the air-wave and you conquer the past, present, the future.
Military

Our military is so indestructible, nothing matters. Nobody can ever beat us. Aircraft carriers & tanks. But nukes beat tanks & mobile Naval fleets. Aliens don't care about fallout. An invading force will hit the military first. The only chance we have is retired / active US-trained troops, to have complete control of all primary weapon systems, and to coordinate battlefield tactics with civilians.

Federal government is already compromised. You can't vote your way out of this. Government isn't here to protect our interests. They protect their own, at all costs. Aliens can invade us using currency. Greasing politicians. You just assume the alien doesn't look like us, therefore they can't do this to us.
Blackouts

Information is everything. Powering down, then up again, is a significant event. Watch for it. The "Blackout" is the event that will trigger the invasion.
The 4-man squad
Platoons will be 4
Diversity is important. Diversity of patriots. We must learn to fight a common enemy by combining faiths, beliefs, and skill-sets. Our military is beatable now, however unlikely. 1 bomb destroys a fleet. 1 bomb destroys airports. if the enemy wants there to be radiation, that becomes an issue. The Fatherland must be so defensible, they wouldn't dare. 4-man squads defined above can not be beat. Btw, this opens us up to getting nuked again, but in that case, it would not make sense for enemies to use radioactive nukes. These rules apply to human enemies as well as extra terrestrial entities.
Upcoming Events
Almost all weapon systems defined above are accessible through a civilianized version. Except the Javelin, the Drone, and drone bombs
